The Martiano Program Office was created in Cuba in 1997. The office is responsible for promoting the study of the life and work of José Martí in relation to the roots and foundations of Cuban thought, and its links with the highest exponents of thought and creative actions in Latin America, the Caribbean and the world. It also has the following functions: to coordinate all the efforts made by the country in relation to the thought, life and work of José Martí.

 

 

It is the first work of its genre with a plot based on the Cuban War of Independence. It was partially premiered, only the second scene, on December 1, 1899 at the National Theater. The action of the play takes place during the period of the last stage of the war that restarted in 1895.

It is a fraternal institution that has presence in Cuba. Since its beginning in the Cuban territory, it was related to the struggle for independence, since some of its members contributed to the struggle for the liberation of Cuba from Spanish colonial rule. The Order Caballero de la Luz was created in Philadelphia on May 9, 1873, with the objective of being an institution of mutual aid, which at the same time worked for the independence of Cuba. Its first president was José González Curbelo.

It was instituted in 1972. It is awarded to Cuban citizens, foreigners and Heads of State or Government, who have contributed with great deeds in favor of peace and humanity, for valuable and extraordinary contributions to education, culture, science and sports, as well as for outstanding merits in their creative work.
