MONUMENT SOURCE OF INDIA OR NOBLE HAVANA.

The monument identified as the Fountain of India or the Noble Havana is another symbol of the Cuban capital. Located at the end of the Paseo del Prado, very close to the National Capitol, this monument is inspired by the legend of a beautiful aborigine who received, in the 16th century, the Spanish navigators who made the bojeo to Cuba. According to the chroniclers of the time, when the Spaniards arrived at the current port of Havana, an Indian woman sitting on a colossal rock observed them in silence.
Then he approached them cautiously and, with a circular gesture of his hands, made reference to the spacious bay, the virgin mountain and pronounced the word Havana.
The Indian statue located in front of the Fraternity Park, keeps in its right hand the shield of the city with a key that represents the strategic position of Havana, and the three towers that symbolize the first existing fortresses in the capital.
The beautiful statue is surrounded by four dolphins whose mouths used to emit jets of water. The Indian lies on an artificial rock located on top of a large shell.
