The Ibero-American Center of the Décima and Improvised Verse (CIDVI), the Office of Research and Cultural Promotion "Indio Naborí", the Cuban National Commission of UNESCO and the House of Latin American and Caribbean Culture, INVITE poets-repentistas, writers, musicians, cultural promoters and researchers from Ibero-America to participate in the First Ibero-American Congress of the Décima and Improvised Verse, which will take place from September 28 to 30, 2022 in Havana, Cuba.

The event will be dedicated to the Centenary of the birth of the great Cuban poet Jesús Orta Ruiz (Indio Naborí), to the V Anniversary of the declaration of Punto Cubano as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, to the X Anniversary of the Declaration of Repentismo as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation, to the 75th Anniversary of the incorporation of Cuba to UNESCO and to the 75th Anniversary of the creation of the Cuban National Commission of UNESCO.

The Congress pursues, as its main objective, to promote a fruitful exchange of experiences on the development, consolidation and actuality of the Décima, both in its oral and written variant.

Conferences, presentations, debates, book presentations and daily meetings between outstanding bearers of folklore will be part of this First Ibero-American Congress, which aspires to become a space that allows the biannual fraternization of all those factors that affect the fact of keeping alive the tradition of the Décima and the Improvised Verse in our towns.
