National School of Art

It is the flagship center of artistic education in Cuba, inaugurated in 1962 as a project of the triumphant revolution to bring art to all equally, which has become a paradigm of Cuban culture. Since its foundation, several specialties have been studied at the center: Ballet, Music, Dramatic Art and Plastic Arts, and from 1965 onwards, Modern and Folkloric Dance were incorporated. As time went by, it became the main source of artists and professionals of Art and Culture in the country. To the specialties that began in 1962, were added those of Circus (1977) and Musical Shows (1993), as well as the National Center for the Improvement of Artistic Education, established in 1976 (currently integrated to the National Center of Art Schools).
