BioCubaFarma guarantees the production of Cuban vaccines against the COVID-19
Currently, six production lines in several companies belonging to the Group of Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries (BioCubaFarma), are set to produce the vaccines against COVID-19, and the amount necessary to immunize the whole Cuban population will be produced no later than August 2021, assured this institution on its official Twitter account.
Other lines could be added if necessary, but to have these production systems assures having the necessary doses to vaccinate our population. The production capacities for the Cuban vaccine candidates against the pandemic are guaranteed, reported that tweet later on.
At the same time, in the release by BioCubaFarma, the words expressed by Dr. Eduardo Martínez Días, the president of this group, are resumed. He affirmed that while the variations of this vaccine were structured, the production systems were structured for when their effectiveness and safety were proved, so we could count with millions of doses.
The Cuban strategy to develop the vaccines against the COVID-19.
It has been assured by this pharmaceutical research and production leading institution that the goal is the whole population to be vaccinated this year.
The certainty is provided by the development of the clinical tests of two of the most relevant vaccine candidates, Soberana 02, and Abdala, having tests that continue normally during the essential stages for the evaluation of their safety and efficiency, all of this according to another tweet recently released by BioCubaFarma.
What is happening in other parts of the world?
While Cuba moves forward in this respect with its own solutions, other countries do not have that possibility and their dependence on foreign vaccines have created serious difficulties to immunize their population.
In February, the Secretary-General of the United Nations pointed out to the Security Council that more than 130 countries have not received a single dose of COVID-19 vaccines and criticized that the 75% of the immunizations have been focused on ten nations only, and all of them being developed ones.
“In this critical moment, the biggest moral test that faces the world community is that of the equal distribution of vaccines. We need to make sure that everyone, everywhere, can get vaccinated as soon as possible”, he said, and disapproved the fact that the vaccination process has been so “tremendously unequal and unfair“.
The vaccine delivery is also hindered by a gap in the funding for humanitarian support in general, and because of the lack of transportation, cold chains and logistic infrastructure to support the launch, reported the UN’s website.
