On May 1, 1937 he made his debut in Havana under the name of Sexteto Casino. In 1941 the Sexteto is requested for the musical season of the old Casino Nacional in Marianao beach. The impresarios demanded as a condition for the contract the inclusion of a bolero player. In 1943 the group recorded its first records for RCA Victor. At the end of 1948, very peculiar circumstances propitiated the coincidence, in the CMQ studios, of Conjunto Casino and the Puerto Rican singer Daniel Santos. Together they recorded a curious series of records for RCA Victor, including several boleros. As the years went by, the group achieved great notoriety in the Cuban music scene. Their musical line specialized in bolero and guaracha.

It was founded on January 9, 1963, being the first and only Dramatic Center of the then province of Las Villas. Since its inception its mission was to prestige and maintain the theatrical legacy of the city of Cienfuegos.

It is a Cuban musical group founded in Matanzas in 1924, named La Tuna Liberal. Years later it moved to Habana with the name of Estudiantina Sonora Matancera. It made several presentations with that name at the radio station El Progreso Cubano, later known as Radio Progreso. It was one of the first groups presented on television when it appeared in Cuba at the beginning of the fifties.

 

It is the organ which represents the Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular between the sessions. It implements its agreements and carries out other tasks the Constitution conferred on it.  All the decree–laws approved are subjected to the National Assembly ratification in the next session. 

 

International organization created in 1949, soon after the end of the Second World War and the subtle start of the Cold war. Its objective is to promote peaceful coexistence that supports the nuclear disarmament. This international organization supports universal disarmament, sovereignty, independence, peaceful coexistence; and the campaigns against imperialism, massive destruction weapons and all the different ways of discrimination.

It is an Institution which is part of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba. It is in charge of specifying and notifying those goods that should be part of the cultural patrimony of the nation. Its main work is the protection, recovery, preservation, restoration, exhibition, research and spreading of the cultural and natural patrimony, as well as the information given by experts on the field.

 

The Conservatory Amadeo Roldán is in Havana. It is a prestigious Academic Cuban institution for music. For more than a century It has been a symbol in reference to the study of music in our country.  It emerged as an initiative of the first Mayor of Havana; the Doctor in Medicine and a patriot, Juan Ramon O´ Farril. The Conservatory was opened on October 2nd     1903 as an Academy of Music and was in different places in Havana. The Academy becomes the Municipal Conservatory of Havana due to an important transformation in 1935. The first stone of the current building located in Rastro Street number 1,in the municipality of Centro Habana was placed in 1942.  It was re- opened in 1943 as the Municipal Conservatory of Music of Havana.

It is the name of the main town of the municipality that takes the same name of the province, Pinar del Rio. Its name is related to the church that was built in the same place where the town is. The creation of the first cell and the farmyard   owned by Don Pedro Lopez started its development in 1569. The population of the town helped the growth of tobacco production in the place since then. The church was built in 1690 and remained there until 1750, when it was moved to a place nearby. The city council was built in 1866.
