PLAZA DE LA FRATERNIDAD AMERICANA

The Parque de la Fraternidad Americana is a point of reference in the Cuban capital. This park is very close to the National Capitol, in the place where a part of the Field of Mars was previously.
The Fraternity Park was inaugurated on February 24, 1928, on the occasion of the VI Pan American Conference held in Havana.
There exists a very large ceiba, whose roots were fertilized with land from 21 countries of America brought by the heads of mission that attended the aforementioned conference and was irrigated with waters from rivers of those nations.
He was designated Tree of the American Fraternity.
The ceiba had been planted originally in the neighborhood of Cerro, in 1902, and was transplanted to the park on the occasion of its inauguration.
It is surrounded by a high cast bronze gate whose upper part has two thoughts of José Martí engraved on it.
Also in the Parque de la Fraternidad Americana there are busts of different Latin American patriots, among them Simón Bolívar, Benito Juárez, José Artigas, Francisco Morazán, and Eugenio María de Hostos and the American Abraham Lincoln.
