Legacy for The March

Precisely on May Day 1959 in the then called Civic Square, in Havana, converted in 1961 into Plaza de la Revolución "José Martí" was celebrated on May 1 with a festive character with the presence of thousands and thousands of workers.
On that occasion, Commander Raúl Castro spoke, as the highest of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, was not in Cuba. On that day he traveled in the direction of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to participate in an international conference.
Back in 1960 and then on successive occasions Fidel spoke at rallies and popular parades on the occasion of International Workers' Day.
And on several occasions he highlighted the role of the workers in the defense and development of the Revolution, the importance of peasant workers' unity and other issues of great importance.
For example, on May 1, 1962, when you appreciate how international workers' day was celebrated in Cuba Fidel said: What does it mean, then, a day like today..?
