Families affected by the Saratoga Hotel accident receive a donation

A donation of electrical appliances and supplies for families affected by the sad accident at the Saratoga Hotel left this morning from the Havana Supply and Transport warehouses, located on Avenida Vento and Santa Catalina, in Cerro, for the Villa Panamericana.

According to Tribuna La Habana, the donation was made by the United Nations System in Cuba, in a joint gesture of fraternity between various cooperation agencies, including the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the World Food Program (WFP ), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The ceremony was attended by Luis Carlos Góngora, Vice President of the Administration Council of Havana; Consuelo Vidal, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cuba; Maribel Gutiérrez, resident coordinator of the UNDP, on the Island; Alejandra Trossero, UNICEF representative in Cuba; as well as Gabriela Hernández, representative of the WFP, among other personalities, the human effort and institutional integration in the face of such disaster situations, the example of Cuba in its response, as well as the close ties of solidarity and collaboration were recognized.

Gutiérrez stressed that UNDP is proud of such collaboration aimed at those people who lost everything, as well as the example of the Caribbean nation in the face of unfortunate events and its human response.

It meant the close ties of help and collaboration in development programs and in the experiences lived to further strengthen the ties of unity.

For his part, Carlos Góngora recounted those difficult days in which the town grew and the titanic struggle of rescuers, entities and forces, among many others. He also thanked the gesture of donations for the victims of this unfortunate accident, and the national response to comprehensive care for them.

Such regional efforts of integration, collaboration and humanitarian aid, are distinguished by vertical steps in collaboration for a better world.
