University of Havana among the 500 best in the world

The University of Havana (UH) ranked number 467 in the QS World University Rankings 2023, moving up 35 places compared to the previous year, the house of higher studies reported on its Twitter account.

“It is not a simple number, it is the result of our professors, students, non-teaching workers, researchers and graduates of our university. It is not a simple number, it is the commitment with Cuba, with its Revolution, with history. A gift in the year of the 295th Anniversary and the Centenary of the FEU”, said Dr. Miriam Nicado García, rector of the UH.

In 2020, the UH became the first Cuban university among the 500 best in the world and the following year it rose to 498th place.

According to the Top Universities website, this year's QS World University Ranking included nearly 1,500 institutions from around the world. It's not just iconic institutions that hold the top spots: this year's top rankings include universities from across Europe, Asia and North America.

Teaching institutions are ranked according to a number of different criteria: from academic reputation to the number of international students enrolled.

In the range 531-540 is the "Marta Abreu" University of Las Villas.
