1913. José Manuel Carballido Rey was born in Güines, belonging back then to Havana.

His passion by the reading and his interest for humanistic sciences motivated him to write and to participate in literary contests. He published some tales in magazines and newspapers. His work´s theme was mainly focussed on peasantry. He show a simple peasant, with superstitions and sharpeness in the middle of an environment of explotation. He was an important asset for the Cuban radio and television, given his valuable work as script writter, mostly of comedy programs.

He died on September 28th ,1987 in Havana.

1927. Sergio del Valle Jiménez was born in Pogolotti, a neighborhood in the municipality of Marianao.

He graduated a doctor in the University of Havana in 1954. He began his political activities after the strike to the State on March 10th,1952. Later he would incorporated himself in a clandestine cell of the July 26th Movement, at the Amércica Arias Hospital where he worked. After that, he joined the revolutionary fight in Sierra Maestra. He became Doctor Commander of the Ejército Rebelde. When the Revolution triumphed, he was designated Chief of the Airforce, Chief of the Major State of the Army, Ministery of Homeland and Ministry of Public Health.

He is one of the founders of the Communist Party of Cuba, member of its first Central Committee, in which he was ellected member of the Political Bureau.

He was delegate to the National Assembly of the People´s Power and member of the State Council. Several condecorations were given to him for his performance throughout the years, such as the Honorific title of Hero of the Republic of Cuba, on April, 2001.

He die don November 15th, 2010 in Havana.
