Lenin Park reaches its 50th anniversary with the inauguration of facilities closed to the public due to the pandemic.

At a press conference, Annia Massino Quintana, general director of the company that bears the name of that Havana facility, said that they are reaching half a century of existence with a renewed management model that includes the productive chain among its 14 basic business units (UEB).

These have implemented some of the measures that the country's leadership adopted for the improvement of the socialist state enterprise, and for that purpose its collectives strengthen self-management, self-supply and the link with new forms of economic management, he explained.

The emblematic site of healthy recreation, according to Massino Castro, is working on the expansion of its offers that will allow it to supply its 33 areas dedicated to restaurants, cafeterias, pizzeria and ice cream parlor.

With a view to the celebrations for the five decades of its creation, facilities that have remained closed to the public as a consequence of the pandemic and others that were completely depressed will be inaugurated, he added.

He also said that there are plans to recover the railroad transportation that, with more than nine kilometers of track, allows the transfer to the interior of the place.

One of the main attractions of Lenin Park is the Mariposa theme park, which is still undergoing remodeling and maintenance work, according to Leonardo Campos Almeida, its director.

Campos Almeida pointed out that, since its recent opening on April 3, Mariposa has been operating six of its 17 amusement rides and five attractions that include cultural activities.

In the period between the week of the teachers' recess, which will begin on April 18, and the summer months, six more devices -three for each stage- will be installed, he pointed out.

Regarding the hydrofoil, inactive since 2014, he pointed out that they are still working on its recovery, since most of its components depend on imports.

Two pesos in national currency will cost the entrance to the park, while the equipment will cost five pesos, in the case of children, and 10 pesos for adults, he said.

The link with state companies and other economic actors allowed the rehabilitation of artifacts that, due to the passage of time and the negative impact of COVID-19, had affected their operation, he said.

In this regard, Campos Almeida commented that the period of confinement served for the creation of a project between the Lenin Park Company and the MSME (acronym for micro, small and medium-sized enterprise) PyxelSolutions, which will guarantee the sustained maintenance of the equipment of the Mariposa Park.

Founded on April 22, 1972 on the initiative of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and heroine Celia Sánchez Manduley, the Lenin Park is committed to the healthy recreation of the capital and the Cuban family, in general, through contact with nature.
