National Circus Arts Award 2021 will be granted.

The outstanding Cuban artist Germán Muñoz, descendant of one of the most famous surnames in the history of this specialty in Cuba, will receive recognition in the capital.

Artist Everardo Germán Muñoz Fuentes will receive in Havana the National Circus Arts Award 2021, in recognition of his vocation and talent demonstrated in Cuba and more than 10 countries in Latin America and Europe, reports Radio Metropolitana.

According to a press release issued by the National Circus of Cuba, German Muñoz descends from one of the most famous surnames in the history of that specialty on the island, and is very grateful to his origins, linked to great tightrope walkers such as his father Roberto and his uncle Esteban Muñoz.

In 1996, Metropolitana highlights, he founded the prestigious Havana Company, whose innovative style has been praised by specialized critics and defended by more than 200 artists who fill circuses, auditoriums and even the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican in the presence of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

Considered a legend of the contemporary Cuban circus, the Cuban artist shared unforgettable moments in his career with figures of universal art, among them, the singers Liza Minelli and Tina Turner, as well as with Princess Stephanie of Monaco, principality in which he performed triumphantly.

He has been recognized with the distinctions; "For National Culture", the "Raúl Gómez García" Distinction and the "Turán Award for Life's Work", conferred by the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Cultural Workers and the Association of Scenic Artists of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, respectively, among other awards.

According to Cubarte, the award ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the "Carpa Trompoloco" Cultural Center.
