The capital will host the Workshop on History, Marxism-Leninism and Education for Life.

The first Workshop on History, Marxism-Leninism and Education for Life will begin on March 23rd at the Higher School of the Communist Party of Cuba, in compliance with one of the agreements of the 8th Congress of the organization.

In a press conference, Rafael Emilio Cervantes Martínez, director of History and Marxism-Leninism of the Ministry of Higher Education (MES), said that the event is a response of the History Commission, created with the aim of achieving quality socialist education at all levels.

Cubadebate reports that those attending the workshop will participate during three days in conferences and specialized panels composed mostly by experts from the Institute of Cuban History, including its President Yoel Cordoví Núñez, directors of History and Marxism-Leninism, as well as representatives of philosophical and communicational entities.

As part of the meeting's program, scholars from research institutions will intervene in the sections of March 23, 24 and 25, with the aim of exchanging experiences about the country's educational needs.

According to this media, the presence of two hundred delegates belonging to universities and educational institutions of the island is the basis for the proper development of the ideas presented in the commissions.

"It is an opportunity for all of us who are involved in the integral formation of the new generations to meet. It is necessary to give continuity to the process initiated with the Third Improvement of the Education System and this event is the way to achieve it in a satisfactory way", said Miriam Egea Álvarez, director of History and Marxism-Leninism of the Ministry of Education (Mined).

Jorge Luis Domínguez, member of the Organizing Committee of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), spoke of the importance of the event to contribute to the acceptance of the subjects covered in it by students, as well as to achieve an interrelation between teaching and research.

"This workshop will make it possible to settle the debt of putting research into practice, not leaving it in debates. To see how this impacts on society will be an advance for the development of the country's educational levels; with this in mind, daily attendance to the classroom will not be the only method of study, but the media will evolve into means of teaching," said Lil María Pich Oliveras, member of the Movimiento Juvenil Martiano.
