The 90 % of people vaccinated with Soberana 02 and Abdala vaccines show a seroconversion of anti-bodies to fight Omicrom. The 100% of the people were given the booster dose of Soberana 01 and Abdala demonstrated a seroconversion to fight this variant.

Cuban scientists qualified this Tuesday 25 of encouraging the results obtained from the studies of anti-bodies produced in people that were vaccinated with the full scheme and the booster dose against the Omicrom variant of Covis-19.

Guadalupe Guzmán Tirado, Head of the Center for the Research, Diagnose and Reference of the Tropical Diseases Center Pedro Kourí, claimed she was extremely satisfied with the investigation, at the meeting held with the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez.

According to a posting in the Presidency´s web site it was stated that 90% or more of the people vaccinated displayed seroconversion to the anti-bodies against Omicrom (seroconversion is the transition of the viral infection point to when the anti-bodies of the virus became present in blood).

A 100 % of those who were given the booster dose showed seroconversion of anti-bodies against the new variant.

The President congratulated all the people involved in the process of getting such results, standing for a better life quality and safety which was made through the Presidency´s web site.

Meanwhile, Dr. Liset Sánchez Váldes from the Molecular Inmunology Center (CIM, in the Cuban acronym) encouraged to be confident in the Cuban vaccines and reminded that a person that have not been vaccinated is a human being with high risk of developing complications or die if they get infected by Coronovirus.

As is regular in this meetings, Raul Guinovart, Dean of the Math and Computing Sciences of the University of Havana presented a prognosis about the behavior of the epidemic in each territory of the country.

On his opinion it is appreciated a tendency to a fast increase of the amount of recovered cases, which already exceeded the number of active cases and therefore, these last ones should diminish.

¨We are overcoming half of the Covid-19 infection wave¨, confirmed the Mathematician and warned about a possible increase of deceases, highlighting the need of protecting vulnerable people.

Prior, Diaz Canel make a call to the citizens on his Twitter account to take care of the children and the elders in facing the incidence of this disease.

¨I make a warning call to our families, our communities for them to be aware and take care of the most vulnerable people¨, he wrote.
