Juan Domingo Carrizo Estévez passes away.

He was born on November 26, 1948 in the town of Yaguajay in the then province of Las Villas. Doctor in Medical Sciences, during his extensive career he contributed to train generations of doctors at national and international level. He taught in higher education for almost 30 years and held various academic responsibilities in the National Health System. He was rector of the Institutes of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara and Havana and held similar responsibilities in the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) since its foundation. He carried out multiple pedagogical scientific works for the good of Cuban medicine and other peoples of the world.

The project is part of the Integral Health Program with which Cuba extends medical collaboration in solidarity to several countries. It was the result of the thinking and political will of President Fidel Castro, architect of the project. The facility educates young people from various parts of the world in medical sciences free of charge.
