Julián del Casal is born.

He came to stand out as a great poet and writer. In spite of his brief existence, since he died in Havana on October 21, 1893, he developed an extensive and valuable literary work. As a poet he was recognized as one of the initiators of the modernist movement. He was praised by other relevant poets such as Rubén Dario and José Martí.

Rubén Dario

His real name was Félix Rubén García Sarmiento. He was born in Nicaragua on January 18, 1867. He was a poet, journalist and diplomat, the maximum representative of literary modernism in the Spanish language. He had a lasting influence on the poetry of the twentieth century. Eroticism became the center of his poetic creation. He died in León, Nicaragua, on February 6, 1916.
