Silvia Planas is born.

From the time of her youth she was part of a group of amateur actors. She was an outstanding actress in theater, cinema and television. In the theater she played multiple characters. In cinema she made her debut in the film Las doce sillas, directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea.  Her spectrum as an actress allowed her to embody both kind and humorous grandmothers, as in the films Se permuta or Los pájaros tirándole a la escopeta, and complicated and dramatic society ladies in the style of Doña Herminia in Amada, the latter directed by Humberto Solás.  She also made several incursions into television. She was the mother of two Cuban stage personalities, Vicente Revuelta and her sister Raquel Revuelta.
