The patriot José Dolores Poyo Estenoz dies.

He was a journalist, writer, poet and tobacco reader. He had a relationship with José Martí, who wrote him several letters. He was among the founding members of the Masonic Lodge of Cuba. He headed the Commission that gathered the necessary funds to erect a monument to Martí in Cuba. He was born on March 24, 1837 in Havana.
