Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 22nd, stated that, 1393 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 944 431.

To date, 8167 deaths by coronavirus (14 belong to the day) have been reported, and 5846(192-) active cases of which 5681(97.2%)with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 1571(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 930 361(98.5%) medical or epidemiological discharges. 18 41 patients remain in hospital admission, 10 648 suspicious and 1919 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 80 belong to the capital, 79 of them native and 1 imported. There were reported 2 casualties in the municipalities of Marianao and Boyeros. 4343(22.7%) tests samples were tested for a positivity of 1.3%.

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased to a 93.5% placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Habana del Este, Diez de Octubre and  Boyeros (10), La Lisa and Cerro(8),Playa and Arroyo Naranjo(7), Guanabacoa(6),  Marianao and Plaza de la Revolución(4), Centro Habana,   and San Miguel del Padrón(3),  Cotorro and Regla (2), Habana Vieja(1).

28 519 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 1393 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 10 332 305 analyzed samples of which 944 431(9.1%) were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,1375(98.7%) people were contacts of confirmed cases ,12 with source of infection from abroad and 63 with unknown source of infection.

There were 1381 native cases this Friday and 12 imported of which 759(54.5%) female and 634(45.5%) male cases.

165 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 60 critical and 105 seriously ill. 

This Friday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to 8.5%(118), for a total of 130 179, which represents a 13.8% of the confirmed cases to the date.

Of the 1393 confirmed cases, 296 were under 20 years of age; 309 between 20 and 39; 430 between 40 and 59 and 358, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 22nd, 2021 is 0.86% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.03% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
