Outstanding man of science carried out special studies on the finding of rare eggs found in human feces. All this work led him to the enrichment of the teaching material of parasitology, which allowed him to prepare directly the sections of parasitized tissues and adult parasite. Born in Haiti on August 21, 1900, his life and work took place in Cuba. He carried out significant teaching work. He organized laboratories, created the Carlos Juan Finlay Parasitology Museum and linked teaching activity with practice. He also wrote on a variety of subjects since he used to publish everything he researched.  The prestige he achieved in the development of the chair of Parasitology led to the creation of the Institute of Tropical Medicine in 1937 by agreement of the governing board, which is currently identified with his name. Due to his remarkable contributions in this field, he came to be catalogued as the father of Cuban parasitology.
