Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 19th, stated that, 1550 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 940 127.

To date,8114 deaths by coronavirus (13 belong to the day) have been reported, and 6987 active cases of which 6787 with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 2234(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 924 969(97.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. 21 074 patients remain in hospital admission, 12 292 suspicious and 1795 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 94 belong to the capital, 92 of them native and 2 imported. 6389(21%) tests samples were tested for a positivity of 1.7%.

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased to 114.1% placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country. There were 2 Covid-19 related casualties in the municipality of Boyeros and Playa.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Habana del Este (12), Diez de Octubre (11),  Boyeros (10), Playa and Arroyo Naranjo (8), La Lisa, Guanabacoa and Cerro(7), Marianao (6), Centro Habana and  San Miguel del Padrón(4), Plaza de la Revolución (3), Habana Vieja and Cotorro (2), and Regla (1).

25 715 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 1550 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 10 247 868 analyzed samples of which 940 127 577 were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,1 546 people were contacts of confirmed cases accumulating 928 294(98.8%), 4(0.25%) with source of infection from abroad for an accumulate of 11 809(1.3%).

There were 1546 native cases this Tuesday and 4 imported of which 822(53%) female and 728(47%) male cases.

200 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 72 critical and 128 seriously ill. 

This Tuesday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to 7.2%(111), for a total of 129 780, which represents a 13.8% of the confirmed cases to the date.

Of the 1550 confirmed cases, 322 were under 20 years of age; 347 between 20 and 39; 496 between 40 and 59 and 385, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 19th, 2021 is 0.86% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.03% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
