106 of the 1768 new positive identified cases of Covid- 19 are from La Habana

Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 18th, stated that, 1768 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 938 577.

To date,8101 deaths by coronavirus (22 belong to the day) have been reported, and 7684 active cases of which 7461 with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 2323(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 922 735(98.3%) medical or epidemiological discharges. 22 693 patients remain in hospital admission, 13 295 suspicious and 1714 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 106 belong to the capital, all of them native.

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros (14), Diez de Octubre (13), Habana del Este (11), Playa and Arroyo Naranjo (9), La Lisa (8), Guanabacoa and Habana Vieja (7), Marianao (6), Plaza de la Revolución (5),   Cerro, San Miguel del Padrón and Cotorro (4), Centro Habana (3)  and Regla (2).

22 693 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 1768 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 10 222 153 analyzed samples of which 938 577 were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,1743 people were contacts of confirmed cases, 2 with source of infection from abroad.

There were 1745 native cases this Monday and 23 imported of which 918 female and 850 male cases.

223 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 80 critical and 143 seriously ill. 

This Monday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to 10.2%(181), for a total of 129 669, which represents a 13.8% of the confirmed cases to the date.

Of the 1768 confirmed cases, 385 were under 20 years of age; 382 between 20 and 39; 543 between 40 and 59 and 458, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 18th, 2021 is 0.86% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.03% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
