The popular cuban Singer José Antonio Tenreyro Gómez dies.

He was artistically known as Tito Gomez. When he was 12 years old he started to be in contact with music at a competition in Teatro Nacional. He sang María la O and Rosa La China, Lamento Gitano and Granada there. He continued his successful career, as a solo and as part of a orchestra like Riverside and the one of the outstanding musician and composer Enrique Jorrín.

Orchestra Riverside

It was created in Havana, in 1938, as a jazz band by the composer, violinist and conductor Enrique González Mántici. He was very popular in Cuba for several decades in which he performed in different places of the country and also abroad. In the 70´s and 80´s he was on the radio and television and also performed in dance parties in Havana and also out of the capital and made tours in Colombia, Venezuela and Finland. This Cuban orchestra has been considered the one with the highest continuance and uninterrupted coverage in the media

Enrique Jorrín

He was born on December 25th, 1926in Candelaria, a town in the province of Pinar dl Rio. He was an exceptional violinist, composer and conductor who created the musical gender Cha, Cha, Cha , inspired in the sound the feet of the dancers enjoying his danzón called “La Engañadora”. It was how this rhythm that went beyond national borders emerged and transcended as an international hit. Enrique Jorrín died on December 12th ,1987 in Havana.
