He got the rank of Commander at Sierra Maestra due to his revolutionary efforts fighting for the independence of Cuba. As a doctor he developed a fruitful job for more than four decades as the director of the Hospital Siquiátrico de La Habana and was very prestigious not only in the country but also abroad. He was a member of the Cuban Society of Psychiatry and Psychology as well as other outstanding international organizations. He was the president of the (Parliamentary Peace Group). He was awarded many decorations, among them we can mention, Héroe Nacional Del Trabajo de la República de Cuba. He died in Havana on May 21st, 2006.

Town of Bauta 

It is a municipality at the province of Artemisa. Its name comes from a Spaniard who lived in those lands in the colonial epoch and his las name was Bauta. It was also known as Hoyo Colorado.

 Hospital Psiquiátrico de La Habana

It has a 62 hectares surface with 36 pavilions for hospitalization, laboratories, sport and recreation facilities, rooms for occupational therapy, teaching areas,   and administrative and assurance rooms. It has more than two thousand beds. After the triumph of the Revolution on January 9th, 1959, Doctor Eduardo Bernabé Ordaz Ducunge was assigned the direction of the hospital. He did it for more than four decades.

Héroe Nacional del Trabajo de la República de Cuba

Honorary title given to Cuban citizens and foreigners by the Council of State in recognition of extraordinary merits achieved in the creative work or in the fights for the conquests and in defense of the accomplishments and interests of the working class, as well as internationalism. It can be given posthumously. Its symbol is the Medal "Estrella de Oro del Trabajo".
