Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, October 9th, stated that, 3604 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 918 383.

To date,7851 deaths by coronavirus (39 belong to the day) have been reported, and 16 975 active cases of which 16 662(98.2%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 4667(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 893 500(97.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. 41 447 patients remain in hospital admission, 21 698 suspicious and 2774 under medical surveillance.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 198 belong to the capital, all of them native. We regret 2 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital, in the municipalities of Guanabacoa and Marianao (1 death each).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has decreased, placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Diez de Octubre and Boyeros (21), Habana del Este (16), Playa and Centro Habana (15), Arroyo Naranjo (14), Plaza de la Revolución and La Lisa (13), Cerro and Guanabacoa (12), Marianao, Habana Vieja and San Miguel del Padrón (10), Cotorro (9), and Regla (7).

37 234 tests were studied for Covid- 19, 3604 were positive samples, whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 9 962 695 analyzed samples of which 918 383(9.2%) were positive.

Of the confirmed cases,3582(99.8%) people were contacts of confirmed cases accumulating 903 040(99.4%); 11(0.3%) with source of infection from abroad for a total of 11 707(0.03%) and 11(0.03%) with unknown source of infection.

There were 3593 native cases this Saturday and 11 were imported of which 1965(54.5%) female and 16939(45.5%)   male cases.

313 diagnosed patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit, of them 95 critical and 218 seriously ill. 

This Saturday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 5.6%(202), for a total of 128 164, which represents a 14.0% of the confirmed cases to the date.

Of the 3604 confirmed cases, 779 were under 20 years of age; 841 between 20 and 39; 1133 between 40 and 59 and 851, over 60.

The death rate for Covid -19 in Cuba, in October 9th, 2021 is 0.85% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.04% for the world and the 2.45 % for the Americas region.
