PWX radio station is founded.

It was the first radio station officially inaugurated in Cuba. The ceremony took place at four o'clock in the afternoon. It transmitted to Cuba and to the east and south of the United States. The wave used was 400 meters. The first transmission took place from the Presidential Palace. President Alfredo Zayas spoke. He delivered his speech in English and Spanish, especially directed to the people of the United States. A receiver was placed in the Palace so that diplomats, members of the Cuban Government and other guests could listen to Zayas' speech. After Zayas' speech, an artistic program was presented with the performance of several artists, among them the soprano Rita Montaner who sang Rosas y violetas, by José Mauris and Presentimiento by Eduardo Sánchez de Fuentes. The station, created by the Cuban Telephone Company, was installed at Águila number 161 in Havana.

It was located in the Águila and Dragones building. It maintained its operations until March 3, 1959 when it was intervened by the Cuban Revolutionary Government.
