Casa Simon Bolivar is located in a stately mansion of the 18 th Century in Habana Vieja (The Old Havana). The Casa Simon Bolivar was opened in Havana  on July 24th, 1993 on the 210 anniversary of El Libertador. The project of creating a house to honor The Libertador began to materialize when a Box of Memories was placed in the façade of the building, which contained messages that were exchanged by the presidents of Cuba and Venezuela. 

The process of restoration of the building started from that moment on and took 28 months. The creation and  fitting out of the house was sponsored by Casa el Ateneo of Caracas and the Fundación Casa Simón Bolívar in Venezuela. Several Venezuelan artists donated their works to be exhibit in Casa Simón Bolívar in La Habana. The key piece of the house is the statue of Bolívar smelted in bronze. The institution can be used either for exhibitions or for symposiums and courses related to Simon Bolivar.
