CUBAN ASSOCIATION OF THE PHYSICALLY- MOTOR HANDICAPPED (ACLIFIM)

The Cuban Association for the Physically and Motorically Handicapped (ACLIFIM) is a non-profit organization with its own legal status. The institution, headquartered at 106 6th Street between 1st and 3rd Streets in the municipality of Playa, was founded on March 14, 1980 by a group of people with physical-motor disabilities and is officially recognized as an Association by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Cuba.

The organization welcomes people with evident and permanent disability in one or more limbs, not caused by the wear and tear of age (old age) or associated with mental retardation, and people with amputation of one or more limbs. The objectives of the association are the integration of people with physical-motor disabilities to a socially useful life with equal rights and opportunities, to achieve full access to work, study, sports, cultural and recreational activities, and to contribute to the elimination of architectural barriers or any other kind of barriers existing in our society.

ACLIFIM plans and develops countless events with its associates of cultural, sporting and recreational character, promotes and organizes training courses in various specialties and trades. At present, ACLIFIM represents more than 74,000 associates before the Cuban Government and national and foreign organizations.

Ministry of Justice

An agency of the Central State Administration whose mission is to assist the Government in the preparation of legal policy in the area of its competence, and once approved, to participate in its execution and control. The Ministry of Justice has its headquarters at: O Street number 216 between 23 and 25 in Vedado.
