Idelfonso Pérez Vigueras dies.

He was born on February 18th, 1892. In Pinar del Rio. He was a veterinarian who devoted his biggest efforts to the School of Veterinary Medicine, as well as the study and scientific research. He completed more than 80 works, two books and several articles that were published in Cuba and abroad. He contributed to the knowledge about the work of a veterinarian in the public hygiene and the National Livestock Industry.

School of Veterinary Medicine

The first School of Veterinary Medicine in Cuba was founded on April 10th, 1907 as a result of the combined effort of a group of Cuban veterinarians graduated from Universities overseas and the Spanish citizen Ricardo Gómez Murillo The first lessons were taught in Dr. Etchegoyen Montané´s house, director of the School , in Amistad No. 85. A while later lessons were taught at Installations of the School of Medicine of the University of Havana, located in Zanja and Belascoaín and then in 1943 they moved to Carlos III and Ayestarán. Finally, in the 80´s, they went to the current installations of San Jose de las Lajas.
