Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, September 8th, stated that, 8394 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 729 133(8.3%).

To date, 6140 deaths by coronavirus (86 belong to the day) have been reported, and 38 944 active cases of which 38 532(98.9%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 8579 (belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 683 992(98.9%) medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 128 critical patients and 284 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 686 belong to the capital, of them 682 are native and 4 imported. We regret 6 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital: Boyeros(2 deaths),Arroyo Naranjo, Centro Habana, Cotorro and Playa( 1 death each).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, a decrease in the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants of 613.3% has been reported, placing the capital in fortieth position in the country. 

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Centro Habana(62),Boyeros(60), Habana del Este(59),  Arroyo Naranjo (57),Diez de Octubre and La Lisa(56), Marianao(55), Cerro(48), Habana Vieja (47),    Playa(41), Guanabacoa and  Plaza de la Revolución(36), San Miguel del Padrón (27),  Cotorro(25), and Regla,17.

59 905 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 8394 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 8 512 380 analyzed samples of which 729 133(8.3%) were positive.

8321(99.1%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases for an accumulate of 717 734(98.4%); 27(0.3%) with source of infection abroad for a total of 11 266, 46(0.45%) of them have an unknown source of infection.

There were 8367 native cases this Wednesday and 27 were imported of which 4430(58.2%) female and 3964(47.2%) male cases.

This Wednesday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 3.8 %( 320), for a total of 121 227 which represents 16.6% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appeared from the beginning of the disease.

Of the 8394 confirmed cases, 1887 were under 20 years of age; 2120 between 20 and 39; 2590 between 40 and 59 and 1797, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in September 9th, 2021 is 0.84% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.06% for the world and the 2.48 % for the Americas region.
