Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, September 1st, stated that, 6208 (301-)new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 665 672(8.3%).

To date, 4464 deaths by coronavirus (87 belong to the day) have been reported, and 32 909 active cases of which 32 822(98.7%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 7085(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals. There are 151 critical patients and 271 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 717 belong to the capital, of them 716are native and 1 imported. We regret 7 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital: Plaza de la Revolución and Boyeros( 2 deaths each), Playa, Diez de Octubre and Habana del Este( 1 death).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, a decrease inthe incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants to a 722.4% has been reported, placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country. 

The most affected municipalities in Habana were: La Lisa(31), Boyeros(68), Arroyo Naranjo (60),Habana del Este(62),Diez de Octubre(55),Marianao(52),Centro Habana (62),Playa(56),Cerro(82),Guanabacoa(35), Habana Vieja(31),Cotorro(33),San Miguel del Padrón (36), Plaza de la Revolución(37) and Regla,16.

57 137 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 6208 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 8 042 254 analyzed samples of which 665 672(8.3%) were positive.

Most of the tested samples run were from the capital (21.9%) and a positivity rate of 5.7% was registered, parameter that places Havana in the fortieth position of the chart. A decrease in this parameter has been registered in the last few days but it still remains high. 

6164(99.3%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases for a total of 654 325(98.3%); 11(0.5%) with source of infection abroad for a total of 11 141(1.7%), 33 of them (0.5%) have an unknown source of infection.

There were 6197 native cases this Wednesday and 11 were imported of which 3331(53.7%) female and 2877(46.3%) male cases.

This Wednesday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 6.3 %( 393), for a total of 118 413 which represents 17.8% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

Of the 6208 confirmed cases, 1470 were under 20 years of age; 1589 between 20 and 39; 1764 between 40 and 59 and 1385, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in September 1st, 2021 is 0.82% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.07% for the world and the 2.5 % for the Americas region.
