Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, August 25th, stated that, 8509 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 619 672.

To date, 4902 deaths by coronavirus (96 belong to the day) have been reported, and 49 597(8%) active cases of which 49 146(99%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 9746 (belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 565 116 medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 137 critical patients and 314 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 874 belong to the capital, of them 867 are native and 7 imported. We regret7 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital: Arroyo Naranjo, Boyeros and Plaza de la Revolución( 2 deaths each) and San Miguel del Padrón( 1 death).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, a decrease in the incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants to a 722.4%has been reported, placing the capital in thirtieth position in the country. 

The most affected municipalities in Habana were La Lisa(90), Boyeros(89), Arroyo Naranjo (79), Habana del Este(77),Diez de Octubre(76), Marianao(68), Centro Habana (62),  Playa(61), Cerro(55), Guanabacoa(49), Habana Vieja and Cotorro(41), San Miguel del Padrón (36), Plaza de la Revolución(29) and Regla,21.

54 488 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 8509 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 7 688 668 analyzed samples of which 619 672(8.1%) were positive.

Most of the tested samples run were from the capital and a positivity rate of 6.8% was registered, parameter that places Havana in the fiftieth position of the chart. A decrease in this parameter has been registered in the last few days but it still remain high. 

8588(99.6%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases; 29 (0.3%) with source of infection abroad for a total of 10 962(1.8%), 5 of them (0.1%) have an unknown source of infection.

There were 8480 native cases this Wednesday and 29 were imported of which 4480(52.6%) female and 4029(47.4%) male cases.

This Wednesday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 3.7 %( 312), for a total of 116 203 which represents 19% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

Of the 8509 confirmed cases, 1914 were under 20 years of age; 2320 between 20 and 39; 2575 between 40 and 59 and 1700, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in August 25th, 2021 is 0.79% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.08% for the world and the 2.52 % for the Americas region.
