Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, August 21st , stated that, 9548 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 583 299.

To date, 4544 deaths by coronavirus (63 belong to the day) have been reported, and 48 487 confirmed cases of which 47 982(99.0%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 7891 (belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 530 211 medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 130 critical patients and 375 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 943 belong to the capital, of them 942 are native and 1 imported. We regret 6 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital: Arroyo Naranjo, Playa, Cotorro, Guanabacoa, Diez de Octubre and Regla( 1 death each municipality).

Dr. Durán informed that in the last 15 days, an 862.6% of incidence rate per 100 000 inhabitants has been reported, placing the capital in tenth position in the country. 

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros (99), Habana del Este(96),  Diez de Octubre(95),Arroyo Naranjo(93),La Lisa(78), Cerro(67), Marianao(66),Playa(63),Guanabacoa(48), Plaza de la Revolución and Habana Vieja(47),Centro Habana and Cotorro(45),San Miguel del Padrón (36) and Regla, 17.

53 853 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 9548 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 7 490 885 analyzed samples of which 583 29(7.8%) were positive.

Most of the tested samples run (25.1%) were from the capital and a positivity rate of 7% was registered, parameter that places Havana in the fortieth position of the chart. A decrease in this parameter has been registered in the last few days but it still remain high. 

9485(99.3%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases, accumulating an amount of 572 124(98.1%), 28(0.3%) with source of infection abroad for an accumulate of 10 900(1.8%); 35 of them (0.4%) have an unknown source of infection.

There were 9520 native cases this Saturday and 28 were imported of which 5231(54.8%) female and 4317(45.2%) male cases.

This Saturday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 4.1 %( 388), for a total of 114 795 which represents 19.6% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

Of the 9548 confirmed cases, 1948 were under 20 years of age; 2650 between 20 and 39; 3132 between 40 and 59 and 1818, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in August 21st, 2021 is 0.77% per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.09% for the world and the 2.53 % for the Americas region.
