Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, August 19th, stated that, 9764 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 564 011.

To date, 4397 deaths by coronavirus (78 belong to the day) have been reported, and 46 449 confirmed cases of which 45 971 with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 8 509 (belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 513 108 medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 131 critical patients and 347 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 948 belong to the capital, of them 925 are native and 23 imported. We regret 4 casualties by Coronavirus in the capital: Centro Habana, Diez de Octubre, Marianao and San Miguel del Padrón (1 death each municipality).

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros(100),  Arroyo naranjo(98),  La Lisa (94), Diez de Octubre(98),Cerro(84),Habana del Este(72), Playa(65), Centro Habana and Guanabacoa(63 each),Marianao(51), Cotorro(45),Plaza de la Revolución(39),San Miguel del Padrón (37),Habana Vieja(31), and Regla, 17.

48 651 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 9 764 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 7 338 692 analyzed samples of which 554 247(7.6%) were positive.

Most of the tested samples run (24.7%) were from the capital and a positivity rate of 7.7% was registered, parameter that places Havana in the fortieth position of the chart.

9645(98.8%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases, accumulating an amount of 552 895 with source of infection abroad; 66 of them with a source of infection abroad for a total of 10 854 and 53 of them have an unknown source of infection.

There were diagnosed 9 698 native cases this Thursday and 66 were imported of which 5358(53%) female and 4406(47%) male cases.

This Thursday the amount of asymptomatic cases decreased to a 4 %( 390), for a total of 114 049 which represents 20.2% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

Of the 9764 confirmed cases, 2029 were under 20 years of age; 2730 between 20 and 39; 3195 between 40 and 59 and 1810, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in August 19th, 2021 is 0.78 % per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.1% for the world and the 2.54 % for the Americas region.
