Juan José Junco dies in Havana.

Born in Cienfuegos on November 9, 1913, at the age of eight he began his musical studies with his uncle and later with maestro Pedro Garcés. Later, in the Cuban capital, he worked as a clarinetist with the Havana Philharmonic Orchestra, where he was a soloist from 1960 onwards. In 1971 he was a member of Grupo Nuestro Tiempo, directed by Manuel Duchesne Cuzán.

He was considered one of the most notable clarinetists in Cuba. For his meritorious work he received the Distinction for National Culture and the Award for Artistic Education.
