Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro speaks at the ceremony for the centenary of the birth of scientist Pedro Kouri Esmeja, a great figure in world medical parasitology.

The event was held at the Havana headquarters of the Institute of Tropical Medicine, named after this remarkable scientist. Fidel addresses the sanitary catastrophe threatening our planet. He congratulates the Institute of Tropical Medicine for its research successes. He also highlights: "The Institute of Tropical Medicine is now more needed in the Third World than in Cuba".
