Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, August 15th, stated that, 9169 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 526 837.

To date, 4088 deaths by coronavirus (65 belong to the day) have been reported, and 42 042 confirmed cases of which 41 596 with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 7534(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 480 650(91.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 109 critical patients and 337 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 1072 belong to the capital, of them 1068 are native and 4 imported. We regret 6 casualties by Coronavirus this Sunday in the capital: Habana del Este a and Plaza de la Revolución (2 each municipality), Diez de Octubre and Cerro( 1 death each municipality).

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros(140),  Habana del este(139), Diez de Octubre(103),Habana del Este (127), La Lisa(124),Arroyo Naranjo(111), Habana del Este(97),Playa (75),Marianao(69), Habana Vieja(64), Centro Habana(56)Guanabacoa(49), Plaza de la Revolución(46),San Miguel del Padrón(40)Regla(28), Cerro(25) and Cotorro, 21.

44 360 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 9169 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 7 203 079 analyzed samples of which 526 837(7.3%) were positive.

Most of the tested samples run, the 27 %, were from the capital; an increase in the positivity rate from 7.2% to 9% was registered, compared with last Saturday’s statistics. According to Duran’s statement, in the last few days a lowering in this parameter is appreciated but it is still high.

9113(99.4%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases, accumulating an amount of 515 638 confirmed cases which leads to a total of 10 749 confirmed ones. 20(0.2%) of the cases have its source of infection abroad and 36 of them have an unknown source of infection.

There were diagnosed 9149 native cases this Sunday and 20 were imported of which 4813(52.5%) female and 4356(47.5%) male cases.

This Sunday the amount of asymptomatic cases increased to a 3.9 %( 358), for a total of 112 530 which represents 21.4% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

Of the 8636 confirmed cases, 1876 were under 20 years of age; 2630 between 20 and 39; 2903 between 40 and 59 and 1760, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in August 14th, 2021 is 0.78 % per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.11% for the world and the 2.56 % for the Americas region.
