Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, August 13th, stated that, 8816 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 509 032.

To date, 3925 deaths by coronavirus (83 belong to the day) have been reported, and 40 790 confirmed cases of which 40 305(98.8%) with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 11 942(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 464 260(91.2%) medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 146 critical patients and 339 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 1323 belong to the capital, of them 1321 are native and 2 imported. We regret 6 casualties by Coronavirus this Friday in the capital: Diez de Octubre(2), Centro Habana, Plaza de la Revolución, Cerro, La Lisa, Arroyo Naranjo and Boyeros( 1 death each municipality).

Francisco Durán informed that, in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 thousands inhabitants has increased to 1100%; for that reason the capital stands on the seventh position of the chart. That’s why he called the attention on the strict comply of the protection measures and social isolation because of the still high transmission which is spread in all its territories.

The most affected municipalities in Habana were Boyeros (179), Centro Habana (147), Arroyo Naranjo (127), Playa (122), Habana del Este (120), La Lisa(119),Diez de Octubre(105), Cerro(96),Marianao(80),Plaza de la Revolución(70),Cotorro(49), San Miguel del Padrón(47),Guanabacoa(31),Habana Vieja(21) and Regla, 10.

48 802 test were studied for Covid- 19, with a result of 8816 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 7 112 610 analyzed samples of which 509 032(7.2%) were positive.

31.3 % of the tested samples run are from the capital; a positivity of 8.7% was registered placing Havana in the fortieth place of the chart in the country. According to Duran’s statement, in the last few days a lowering in this parameter is appreciated but it is still high.

8766(99.4%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases for a total of 10 703(2.1%) confirmed ones. 40 of the cases have its source of infection abroad and 10(0.51%) of them have an unknown source of infection.

There were diagnosed 8776 native cases this Friday and 40 were imported of which 4663(52.6%) female and 4183(47.4%) male cases.

This Friday the amount of asymptomatic cases increased to a 5.4 %( 476), for a total of 111 8444 which represents 22% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

Of the 8816 confirmed cases, 1614 were under 20 years of age; 2447 between 20 and 39; 2903 between 40 and 59 and 1852, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in August 13th, 2021 is 0.77 % per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.11% for the world and the 2.56 % for the Americas region.
