Dr. Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, in a press conference, at the end of yesterday, August 7th, stated that, 9427 new positive cases were confirmed for a total of 458 219.

To date, 3438 deaths by coronavirus (83 belong to the day) have been reported, and 47 291 confirmed cases of which 46 802 with a stable clinical evolution; a total of 8777(belonging to the day) patients were discharged from hospitals for a total of 407 434(88.9%) medical or epidemiological discharges. There are 153 critical patients and 336 in critical status.

Of the amount of patients diagnosed, 1724 belong to the capital, 1719 of them native and 5 imported. We regret 13 casualties by Coronavirus this Saturday in the capital: Plaza de la Revolución(4), Centro Habana and Diez de Octubre(2 deaths each municipality), Guanabacoa, Playa,Regla Cerro and Habana del Este(1 death each municipality).

Francisco Durán informed that, in the last 15 days, the incidence rate per 100 thousands inhabitants increased to 1157.2% and for that reason the capital stands on the seventh position of the chart. He also added that 38 of the 261 active events are from the capital. For that reason he called the attention on the strict comply of the protection measures and social isolation because of the still high transmission which is spread in all its territories.

 The most affected municipalities in Habana were Arroyo Naranjo(175), La Lisa(167), Diez de Octubre(165),Boyeros(159),Habana del Este(156), Playa(143),Marianao(136),Guanabacoa(134), Centro Habana(115), Cerro(82), San Miguel del Padrón(78),Habana Vieja and Plaza de la Revolución(76 each),Cotorro(37) and Regla,25.

41 730 test were studied for Covid 19, with a result of 9427 positive samples whether with PCR or by antigen. The country accumulates 6 860 065 analyzed samples of which 458 219(6.7%) were positive.

9297(98.6%) cases were contacts of confirmed cases for a total of 9427 confirmed ones; reaching a total of 447 333(98.6%). 19 of the cases (0.2%) have its source of infection abroad for a total of 10 536 and 111(1.2%) of the cases have an unknown source of infection.

There were diagnosed 9408 native cases this Saturday and 19 were imported of which 4896(51.4%) female and 4531(48.1%) male cases.

This Saturday the amount of asymptomatic cases increased to a 4.5 %( 426), for a total of 109 533 which represents 24% of the confirmed cases to date. According to this indicator, he pointed out that the trend to the decrease evidences the severity of the clinic chart presented by the new strains, since symptoms appear from the beginning of the disease.

103 468 patients remain hospitalized for clinical epidemiological surveillance, 51 449 suspected cases, 4728 under medical watch. It has been confirmed 47 291 active cases of which 46 802 with a clinical stable evolution. Of the 9427confirmed cases, 1816 were under 20 years of age; 2721 between 20 and 39; 3077 between 40 and 59 and 1813, over 60.

The death rate for Covid 19 in Cuba, in August 7th, 2021 is 0.75 % per million inhabitants which is lower than the 2.13% for the world and the 2.59 % for the Americas region.
