She was born in the Cuban capital. She started her artistic career working in several radio stations and years later performed with different orchestras. Amelia Frades was the first singer in making the musical creation called “La Lupe,” written by Juan Almeida, popular. This song is linked to the journey of the members of the expedition of Granma yatch in 1956.

The commander of the Revolution, Juan Almeida Bosque Juan Almeida was also a distinguished combatant and the head of the Tercer Frente Mario Muñoz of the Rebel Army, an outstanding leader of the Cuban Revolution. He was born in Havana on February 17th, 1928 in a humble family. He took part in the attack to Moncada Garrison on July 26th, 1953   in Santiago de Cuba and in 1956in the expedition of the Granma yatch and was very active in the fight in the Cuban territory for more than two years  He had a lot of responsibilities  from 1959 on, in the Rebel Army and later as a government and Party leader. He was a member of the Political Board of the Central Party Committee and vice president of the Council of State. Due to his merits, he was awarded decorations and national and international orders. We can mention the honorary title : Hero of the Republic of Cuba (Héroe de la República de Cuba)and the order Máximo Gómez of first degree. Juan Almeida died in Havana on September 2009.
