His full name was José María Andrés Fernando Lezama Lima and was born in Havana on December 19th, 1910. He started to show his aptitudes in the field of literature and particularly in poetry, since he was very young. He was the author of the book, Paradiso, among others. Due to this book he was the center of attention not only in the Cuban intellectual field but also abroad. This  is considered a teaching novel  since it reflects the development of the main character from the childhood to the adolescence, the beginning of his  intellectual , the discovery of friendship,  of sexuality and  the encounter with his teacher.

Paradiso

It is the first novel of the Cuban poet, essayist and novelist José Lezama Lima, and the only one published when he was alive .It was first published in 1966. It is considered Lezama master piece and one of the most important and innovative novels in Spanish.
