She has developed as a poet, essayist, journalist, translator, literary and theater critic and is an essential writer of the contemporary Cuban literature. She got a degree in French language and literature   at the University of Havana in 1966. She has deserved important recognitions such as the : Oficial de la Orden al Mérito de la República de Francia, la Réplica del Machete de Máximo Gómez, and the distintion  Maestro de Juventudes that is given by the  Asociación Hermanos Saiz. She was awarded the Premio Nacional de Literatura in 2001.

This award represents the highest decoration given by Asociacion Hermanos Saiz to the pedagogical creative work done by outstanding figures in the culture and thinking field.  To those figures who have contributed to the Cuban culture and identity, as well as by the influence of their works in the new generation of writers and artists.

Asociación Hermanos Saiz

It is an Asociation of cultural and artistic purposes which groups young people like: artists, writers, intellectuals and promoters of Cuba, up to 35 years old and in a selective way. It was created on October 18th, 1986 at the National meeting of Young Writers, Artists and Technicians of Culture( Encuentro Nacional de Jóvenes Escritores, Artistas y Técnicos de la Cultura).  The unification of   the Brigada Raúl Gómez García, which involved cultural instructors, promoters and technicians with the Brigada Hermanos Saíz, that involved writers, artists, and the Movimiento de la Nueva Trova with the purpose of motivating the artistic and literary creation in the country since the work of young creators. The   Pabellón Cuba is the headquartes of the Asociación Hermanos Saíz               since twenty years ago.
