Born in Havana on September 11, 1942, Eusebio Leal Spengler was one of the most relevant figures in Cuba. He received numerous awards and recognitions from Cuba and other countries as well as from international centers and organizations, and above all, he earned the affection and respect of the people. Nevertheless, he made simplicity his daily way of acting. Precisely on October 18, 2019 while participating in the program Mesa Redonda on Cuban television, he came to assure: "I do not aspire to anything, I do not even aspire to that which they call posterity; I do not aspire to anything, I only aspire to have been useful."In addition to giving many speeches, as well as lecturing both in Cuba and in other parts of the world, Leal also wrote essays, prologues and articles on Cuban history, art, restoration and other general topics. He was also the author of several books.  #
