Alberto Iznaga is born in Havana.

He was an outstanding violinist, clarinetist, saxophonist, arranger and conductor. He played with the Philarmonic Orchestra of Havana and with the one at the National Theater. He went to the United States in 1929 and in New York was part of an orchestra playing as a clarinetist and saxophonist. He made great musical arrangements for Latin singers and groups in that American city. Later, in Cuba he was part of a quartet and a band. He founded the Siboney  Orchestra and broke it up in 1952 to be part of the Charanga of Gilberto Valdez. As a musician he retired in 1974.

Philarmonic Orchestra of Havana

It was an important musical group that disseminated contemporary works of Cuban and foreign symphonic composers. It was founded on March 14th, 1924 in Havana. At the beginning it was directed by the Spanish maestro, Pedro San Juan Nortes who was living in Cuba. The Philarmonic Orchestra had a huge artistic work in the Cuban musical field of the music for concerts. It showed a wide national and international contemporary symphonic repertoire and presented several works in first auditions in the country. It also introduced different national artists in concerts and recitals and in the direction and as soloists.
