A total of 391 new COVID-19 cases are identified in Havana of the 2464 diagnosed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, June 24st, 2 464 (584+) cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 177 253.
To date, 1 219 deceased were reported (10 within the day), 1 507 patients were discharged (within the day), 10 367 (881+) were confirmed, of which 10 205 have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 164 038 (94%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 62 patients in a critical state and 102 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 391 (2+) belong to the capital, 380 are autochthonous and 11 are imported. The highest amount of PCR tests was done in this province 21.4%, and the positivity decreased 5.6%, thus moving to the 11th position in the country. In Havana, 61 (20.4%) of the total of 359 pediatric cases were identified in the country.
Francisco Durán commented that in the capital, 3 people passed away and there is a tendency to the progressive decrease of cases in the capital. However, the transmission continues to be high and very disperse in all of its municipalities. A rate of 257.4% was recorded per every 100 000 inhabitants, which represents a tendency to the decrease in cases, locating it in the sixth position.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Lisa (50), Habana del Este and Diez de Octubre (37 each), Arroyo Naranjo (34), Boyeros (33), Cerro (30), Marianao (28), Guanabacoa and Playa (27 each), Centro Habana (21), San Miguel del Padrón (17), Cotorro and Plaza de la Revolución (16 each), Habana Vieja (10), and Regla (8).
For the COVID-19, 32 380 samples were analyzed, and 2 464 were positive. The country has had a total of 4 948 516 samples analyzed, and 177 253 of these were positive (3.6%).
2 309 (93.7%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 168 323 (95%); 60 (2.4%) being infected abroad, for a total of 8 322 (4.7%); and 95 (3.9%) had an undefined source of infection.
This Thursday’s autochthonous cases were a total 2 404, and 60 were imported. A total of 1289, and 1 175 were male.
A total of 36 671 patients are kept under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 7 957 are under suspicion, 18 347 are under surveillance, and 10 367 have been confirmed, of which 10 205 (98.4%) have a stable clinical course, and there are 165 611 (93.4%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged.
The 29.4% (724) of the 2 464 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 83 178, which represents the 47% of the confirmed cases to date.
The 2 464 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 403 below the age of 20 years old; 813 between 20 and 39 years old; 856 between 40 and 59 years old, and 392 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until June 24th, is 0.69% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.17%) and the one of the American continent (2.62%).
