A total of 389 new COVID-19 cases are identified in Havana of the 1880 diagnosed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, June 23st, 1 880 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 174 789.
To date, 1 209 deceased were reported (16 within the day), 1 507 patients were discharged (within the day), 9 486 (357+) were confirmed, of which 9 342 have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 164 038 (94%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 47 patients in a critical state and 77 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 389 (28+) belong to the capital, all of them are autochthonous. The highest amount of PCR tests was done in this province 23.8%, and the positivity decreased 4.9%, thus moving to the 9th position in the country. In Havana, 63 (20.4%) of the total of 299 pediatric cases were identified in the country.
Francisco Durán said that even when there is a tendency to the progressive decrease of cases in the capital, the transmission continues to be high and very disperse in all of its municipalities. A rate of 259.4% was recorded per every 100 000 inhabitants, which represents a tendency to the decrease in cases, locating it in the sixth position.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Lisa (38), Marianao (36), Cerro and Diez de Octubre (35 each), Arroyo Naranjo (32), Boyeros and Habana del Este (31 each), Playa (28), Guanabacoa (27), Centro Habana and Cotorro (20 each), San Miguel del Padrón (18), Habana Vieja and Plaza de la Revolución (16 each), and Regla (6).
Durán informed that only the municipality of Regla in Havana, having a 353.5% (inferior to the day before) is the only one in the capital within the 12 with the highest of the COVID-19 incidence rate in the country, in the last 15 days.
For the COVID-19, 33 471 samples were analyzed, and 1 880 were positive. The country has had a total of 4 916 136 samples analyzed, and 174 789 of these were positive (3.6%).
1 778 (94.5%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 165 867 (94.9%); 26 (1.4%) being infected abroad, for a total of 8 262 (4.7%); and 76 (4.1%) had an undefined source of infection.
This Wednesday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 854, and 26 were imported. A total of 928 (49.4%), and 952 (50.6%) were male.
A total of 35 371 patients are kept under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 7 598 are under suspicion, 18 296 are under surveillance, and 9 486 (5%) have been confirmed, of which 9 342 (98%) have a stable clinical course, and there are 164 038 (93%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged.
The 27.7% of the 1 880 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 82 454, which represents the 47.7% of the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 880 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 318 below the age of 20 years old; 542 between 20 and 39 years old; 639 between 40 and 59 years old, and 381 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until June 23st, is 0.69% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.17%) and the one of the American continent (2.62%).
