Ernest Hemingway International Colloquium returns

The eighteenth edition of the Ernest Hemingway International Colloquium will take up the work and imprint of the U.S. writer in Cuba during its two-day online edition, June 24-26.

Prensa Latina reported that the opening of the event, in charge of the director of the Hemingway Museum, Grisell Fraga, will host outstanding presentations by researchers from the island, the United States, Canada and Japan.

The presentation of the book Hemingway, poet in love, by Cuban essayist and translator Carlos Peon, as well as the virtual exhibition Hemingway Image, which brings together several belongings of the Literature Nobel Prize winner exhibited in the institution that bears his name, are some of the activities included in the program of the event.

According to Prensa Latina, a press release warns about the intervention of Democratic Congressman James McGovern, member of the U.S. House of Representatives, who has spoken in favor of the progress of diplomatic relations between his country and the Caribbean nation.

The agenda includes the screening of a documentary series by U.S. filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, who had access to the personal archives bequeathed by the widow of the author of The Old Man and the Sea to the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston.

The ceremony will pay tribute to the Pulitzer Prize winner on the 60th anniversary of his physical disappearance.

Every two years, the Ernest Hemingway International Colloquium constitutes open space for reviews and research focused on Hemingway's life, literary work, preservation and museology.
