Havana reports 372 of the 1418 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, June 16th, 1 418 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 163 415.
To date, 1 123 deceased were reported (5 within the day), 1 296 patients were discharged (within the day), 7 742 were confirmed, of which 7 606 (98.2%) have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 154 494 (94.3%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 64 patients in a critical state and 72 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 372 belong to the capital, of which 367 are autochthonous and 5 are imported. The highest amount of PCR tests was done in this province 31.6% (6108), having a positivity of 6.09% , thus moving to the 13th position in the country. In Havana, 1 person passed away and 68 active events were reported of the 117 of the whole country, and 61 of the total of 224 pediatric cases identified in the country.
Francisco Durán said that even when there is a tendency to the progressive decrease of cases in the capital, the transmission continues to be high and very disperse in all of its municipalities. A rate of 287.2% was recorded per every 100 000 inhabitants, which is lower than the day before, but it continues to be the highest in the country, which has occurred for the last 15 days.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Lisa (38), Arroyo Naranjo (37), Boyeros and Guanabacoa (35 each), Diez de Octubre (33), Cerro (28), Playa (25), Centro Habana (24), Habana del Este, Plaza de la Revolución and San Miguel del Padrón (20 cada uno), Marianao (19), Regla (15), Habana Vieja (12), and Cotorro, 11.
Durán informed that 4 municipalities in Havana are among the 12 with the 20% of the COVID-19 incidence rate in the last 15 days. These are: Regla (403, 7 %), Centro Habana (372,3 %), y Cerro (333,1 %).
For the COVID-19, 28 757 samples were analyzed, and 1 418 were positive. The country has had a total of 4 706 428 samples analyzed, and 163 415 of these were positive (3.5%).
1 319 (93%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 154 914 (94.8%); 33 (3.2%) being infected abroad, for a total of 8 032 (5%); and 66 (6.4%) had an undefined source of infection.
This Wednesday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 385, and 33 were imported. A total of 719 (50.7%), and 699 (49.3%) were male.
A total of 31 973 patients are kept under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 5 993 are under suspicion, 18 238 are under surveillance, and 7 742 (4.7%) have been confirmed, of which 7 606 (98.2%) have a stable clinical course.
The 29.2% (414) of the 1 418 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 78 582, which represents the 48.1% of the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 418 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 250 below the age of 20 years old; 441 between 20 and 39 years old; 469 between 40 and 59 years old, and 258 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until June 16th, is 0.69% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.16%) and the one of the American continent (2.62%).
