A total of 375 were diagnosed in the capital of the 1 537 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Cuba
Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology for the Ministry of Public Health, informed in a press conference that by the end of yesterday, June 14th, 1 537 cases were confirmed as positive to COVID-19, for a total 160 594.
To date, 1 106 deceased were reported (8 within the day), 1 159 patients were discharged (within the day), 7 418 were confirmed, of which 7 257 (98%) have a clinically stable course, and we arrive to 152 014 (94.9%) people medically and epidemiologically discharged. There are 62 patients in a critical state and 99 in a serious one.
Of those diagnosed, 375 belong to the capital, of which 364 are autochthonous and 11 are imported. The highest amount of PCR tests was done in this province 25.4% (5048), having a positivity of 7.43% (higher than the day before), thus moving to the seventh position in the country. In Havana, 3 people passed away and 63 active events are reported of the 114 of the whole country. Also, there was also a decrease respecting the total of 114 pediatric cases identified. It decreased to 43 (18%)
Francisco Durán said that even when there is a tendency to the progressive decrease of cases in the capital, the transmission continues to be high and very disperse in all of its municipalities. A rate of 298% was recorded per every 100 000 inhabitants, which is lower than the day before, but it continues to be the highest in the country, which has occurred for the last 15 days.
The most affected municipalities in the capital were: Diez de Octubre (34), Arroyo Naranjo (30), Boyeros and Playa (29 each), Cotorro (28), Cerro and Centro Habana (27 each), Lisa and San Miguel del Padrón (26 each), Marianao (24), Guanabacoa (22), Habana del Este (21), Plaza de la Revolución (20), Habana Vieja (17), and Regla (11).
Durán informed that 4 municipalities in Havana are among the 12 with the 20% of the COVID-19 incidence rate in the last 15 days. These are: Centro Habana (410.1%), Regla (401.4%), Havana Vieja (397.1%), and Marianao.
For the COVID-19, 18 862 samples were analyzed, and 1 537 were positive. The country has had a total of 4 657 880 samples analyzed, and 160 594 of these were positive (3.45%).
1 432 (93.2%) out of the total of confirmed cases were contacts of other confirmed ones, for a total of 152 124 (94.7%); 48 (3.1%) being infected abroad, for a total of 7 926; and 57 (5.7%) had an undefined source of infection.
This Monday’s autochthonous cases were a total 1 489, and 48 were imported. A total of 798 (52%), and 739 (48%) were male.
A total of 30 834 patients are kept under clinical and epidemiological surveillance, 5 718 are under suspicion, 17 698 are under surveillance, and 7 418 (4.6%) have been confirmed, of which 7 257 (98%) have a stable clinical course.
The 35.3% (615) of the 1 537 positive cases were asymptomatic, for a total of 77 600, which represents the 48.3% of the confirmed cases to date.
The 1 537 diagnosed belong to the following age groups: 263 below the age of 20 years old; 493 between 20 and 39 years old; 506 between 40 and 59 years old, and 275 above 60 years old.
COVID-19 fatality rate in Cuba, until June 14th, is 0.69% per one million inhabitants, lower than that of the whole world (2.16%) and the one of the American continent (2.62%).
